One Less UFO -- That's a Slam Dunk!

My UFO list is shrinking and that makes me happy.  I started out this year with twelve projects on the list (which is more than I've ever had at any one time since I started quilting!) but as of this evening there are only nine left.  The quilt I finished tonight was started with a group of online friends in August, 2012.  The pattern is called "Skinny Dip" by Me and My Sister Designs.

The pattern is much simpler than it looks, and was easy to put together.  The rectangular pieces are pretty simple .....

..... but borders make them interesting.

Adding simple alternate blocks .....

..... then putting blocks together to form squares .....

..... makes for an interesting pattern!

I'm thinking it would look pretty cool just like that, but borders really make it look finished.

Of course, quilting is the crowning touch.  This one is a little larger than I like to tackle on my domestic machine, so I'm sending out a big "Thank you!" to my friend Shirley at Custom Quilting by Shirley Jackson.  She always does a great job.

This one will go into the mail tomorrow to our great-nephew Dalton who loves to play basketball.  His Special Olympics Basketball Team went to National Playoffs recently so I am calling his quilt "Slam Dunk."

Hooray for you. Another UFO bites the dust I'm trying to follow your lead too on attacking those UFOs. I like the colors in your Slam Dunk.

What a great quilt! And, what great potential for using up scraps!
