Part of the fun for me was seeing how many combinations I could put together using just my stash. The challenging part was finding three coordinating fabrics for each pillowcase. Here's what I ended up making.
Needless to say they were very happy with our gifts. We got these photos today.
Just in case you're curious Elise is in the front row in the first photo, third from the left, holding the light green pillowcase.
I think I can speak for the rest of our group when I say that gifting the things we make is always fun, but seeing those smiling faces makes it even better!

What a wonderful thing to do. And it sure helps the stash to disappear. Wish I had known and would have sent some too. I miss making them since the year I made 50+. lol It makes it even better to see their faces with them too.
Such a lovely thing to do for your soldiers - just look at those happy smiling faces!!
Not only fun, but an honor.
Oh, I *love* these photos! It's so wonderful to see happy recipients of our sewing. The fact that they are hardworking soldiers makes it even better! A big thank you to your sewing group for such a useful, thoughtful and generous gift to our troops :)
Great job! Thanks for linking up!
What a great project! Looks like those pillow cases hit the spot.
Oh my gosh....I LOVE this project.......thank you and all your pals!
Always great when someone helps our military. Even better, when it is a relative, and those they are deployed or working with. Merry Christmas!
Great job on the pillow case all from your stash.
What a terrific idea, and isn't it wonderful that A: you found such great combos in your stash, B: you got the 68 pillowcases in the mail so quickly and C: the photos... :-)
So many beautiful pillowcases! Wonderful finishes (and so many!)
Aww, this made me cry! Things like this mean so much to people on deployment. Scott still has his pillowcase from when we sent some to his group - in Kabul, even, come to think of it (2009)!
What a beautiful service project! This is what Christmas is truly about. Thank you for sharing such a heart-warming story!
