Design Wall Monday

I don't normally post on Design Wall Mondays, but today I actually have something on my design wall!  Some of the members of my Guild are working on this Quilted Village pattern as a Block of the Month.

Of course mine doesn't look like this at all.  I like to do my own thing when I quilt, so mine is going to be a colorful village on a background of black and white prints.

Five of the blocks are finished so far along with the embroidered trees and plants.  I'm planning to use bright greens (naturally!) in the "town square" center, too.  I'm having fun with this one!

Design Wall Monday

This is what is on my design wall today.  I started it at Jeanne's 50th Birthday Party Quilt Retreat in January of 2011 and only completed four blocks that week.  This is definitely a UFO I want to finish this year.

The pattern is Root Beer Float by Hyacinth Quilt Designs.   Here are some of the fabrics in the running for putting it together.  We'll see how it all turns out.  Now that I look at them, though, I think I need to throw in some more blues and greens!

What's on My Design Wall?

I decided that I would do my very first "Design Wall Monday" post this week, so I got the photos ready and before I knew it, it was Friday!  You faithful bloggers amaze me.  My "Design Wall Monday" posts would get pretty boring - my wall stays the same for long stretches most of the time.  So, here is what's on my design wall right now:

These are my blocks from the "Made Fabric" Block Swap.  When it was my turn I requested blocks made like the two purple blocks at the top.  I asked that swappers make a large square of fabric from neutral scraps and a second from monochromatic scraps.

Then the blocks were stacked, slashed, and sewn back together after reversing the center strips.

Now that I have all these gorgeous blocks I need to decide what to do with them.  Should I slash them again and insert another color before sewing them together?  Or not?  Add sashing?  Slash them into smaller pieces and mix them all up?  Hmmm, this could be on my Design Wall until next summer.  I need ideas.  I need inspiration.  Or maybe a nap.......
