I Spy a Penelope Rose

I do love an I Spy quilt.  There are so many fun novelty prints out there. Penelope Rose would be here soon, and her quilting Gramma already had a bunch of quilts awaiting her arrival, so I decided a toddler sized I Spy quilt would be the perfect gift.  I dug into my bag of scrappy novelty prints and my Biscotti jars of strips, and made a plan.

Even the simplest block works with interesting fabrics and bright colors.

I had everything from kites and cows to ice cream cones, silly hippos, baby chicks, and lobsters.

Even platform shoes!

A little meander quilting .....

..... a fun backing and a special customized label from Gramma.

Don't tell any of my 'Bama friends, but I threw in a few Auburn blocks for Mom and Dad.

I made it big enough so Penelope can use it for a long time.

Gramma loves it.  Big sister Dallas isn't sure.

I think Penelope will love it.  As soon as she wakes up.

That is so fun and colorful! Perfect for Penelope! I love those blocks - you're right that they work nicely for an I Spy quilt.

These are my favorite kind of kid quilts to make. Yours is wonderful and I'm sure Penelope Rose will haul it around everywhere.

Aw, sweet baby!! I'm sure she will adore this super cute quilt, Sandy. So many fun fabrics and bright colors! You balanced the colors really well, too, so it looks really nicely designed :)

The quilt is bright and fun, but Penelope Rose is sublime. I'm sure she will love it, once she wakes up.

She is so sweet - baby snuggles and quilts with babies. So lovely!

Love your quilt! It's really similar to one I am making. All the 2yo grands get an I Spy and, yes, I put in Michigan and Berkley blocks for the parents also!

Sweet quilt for a sweet grandbaby. Love her name. I totally understand the 'Bama - Auburn rivalry here in my house too. My husband roots on Tide because he has family that graduated from there. I remind him that he also has family graduated from Auburn but that apparently falls on deaf ears. I do my best to root on the Tigers to make up for his lack. LOL!

What a great quilt; I love I Spy quilts for littles. She is a cutie-patootie, as is her 'big sister'!

Oh, what a sweet girl! My grandkids are growing up too fast and I dont have a little one to cuddle with anymore.

YOu can't go wrong with an I Spy. It's good for lots of fun and game and cuddling for years to come.
